Do you have a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or RAM? Then you likely have a Uconnect infotainment system at the heart of your vehicle, and many of those Uconnect infotainment systems have Wi-Fi hotspot capability. How does Uconnect 4G Wi-Fi hotspot work? We’re here to tell you.
A 4G Wi-Fi hotspot is a simple thing. It works just like the Wi-Fi router does in your home or office. Except instead of being plugged into the wall, it wirelessly connects to the 4G cellular network.
This way, you can stay connected even on the go. With one of these enabled, you can connect mobile devices to the internet including laptops, tablets, phones and more.
Uconnect infotainment features of the Wrangler and Gladiator
This feature first started rolling out in 2018, and it’s coming to more and more Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM vehicles every year.
To check to see if your vehicle has it navigate to the Apps section of your Uconnect infotainment system and look for the Wi-Fi Hotspot button.
The billing for the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot works much like a cellular plan, which makes sense because it utilizes cellular networks, in this case AT&T. Most new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM models equipped with a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot also include a 3-month 1GB trial so you can test it out.

You can start the trail online through the AT&T Portal found below. This is also how you can sign up for a regular plan. Currently, monthly rates for the 1GB plan start at $15, but you can also buy a day pass for as little as $5 or you can buy a pass for a whole year for just $200. The plans are very customizable.
From AT&T, Alberta actually has really good coverage especially around the Edmonton area where you should be able to reliably get 4G LTE coverage. You can take a look at your coverage area right now with the link below.
