People have been asking for a truck with Jeep sensibilities for years, and with the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, it appears they will finally get their wish. What is the 2020 Jeep Gladiator? It is the first pickup truck from Jeep since 1992, and we have many of the details.

The Gladiator is entirely based on the Wrangler platform, so of course you can expect plenty of capability. For starters, this machine can ford up to 30 inches or over 76 centimeters of water. When it comes to towing, the Gladiator can handle 7,650 pounds or 3,470 kilograms making it the best for towing in the mid-size truck class.

The Gladiator comes equipped with a durable 5-foot or 1.5-meter steel bed that can handle up to 1,600 pounds or 725 kilograms of payload. This is one truck that doesn’t need an off-road or a rugged version. Every Gladiator will be fit for the trail, the mud, the rocks, and even the snow.

Will the 2020 Jeep Gladiator have four-wheel drive?

Of course the Gladiator will have four-wheel drive. In fact, it comes with four-wheel drive standard. It has the Jeep Command-Trac and Rock-Trac 4×4 systems which includes Dana 44 axles, front and rear axle lockers, and 33-inch off-road tires. This is a real 4×4 truck.

Currently, Jeep only plans to make a four-door version of the Gladiator in what they are calling a crew cab. However, you can still expect many of the same amenities that you would find on a regular Jeep Wrangler.

In fact, much like the Jeep Wrangler, the Gladiator features removable doors and a fold-down windshield. You can also get the Gladiator with either a soft top or one of two hardtops. Yes, that also means that the top is completely removable too. This is the only true open-air truck option.

When will the 2020 Gladiator be available?
