The RAM Heavy Duty lineup is designed to provide the workhorse performance needed to handle any challenge. The 2018 RAM 2500/3500 Heavy Duty towing ratings are driven by the truck’s impressive roster of engine options.

RAM 2500/3500 Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Performance

The towing rating of the 2018 RAM Heavy Duty will vary based on the model and engine options selected.

Three engine options will be offered on the 2018 RAM 2500/3500 Heavy Duty lineup. This includes two gasoline V-8 engine options, along with a turbocharged diesel engine. The first engine offered on the 2018 RAM Heavy Duty is a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8. This engine delivers 383 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Next on the list of engine options is a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8. This engine checks in at 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque.

Rounding out the list of engine options RAM’s Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engine. This engine produces 385 horsepower and 900 pound-feet of torque.

These impressive engine performance numbers lead to equally impressive towing and hauling numbers. The 2018 RAM 2500 offers a maximum towing capacity of 8,155 kg (17,980 lbs). The towing capacity of the RAM 3500 checks in at an impressive 14,156 kg (31,210 lbs). The 2018 RAM 3500 also offers a maximum payload of 3,352 kg (7,390 lbs).

The 2018 RAM Heavy Duty lineup will include multiple trim levels. Each trim level tailors the truck to fit a specific need or use, from the bare-bones workhorse Tradesman, to the off-road-oriented Power Wagon to the luxurious Laramie and Limited models.
